Tell us about yourself

My name is Oisín Cullen, I am currently studying a Bachelor of Science with Concurrent Education in the University of Limerick. I have a great interest in sports, the outdoors and science. I feel I will gain a vast amount of real world experience in the STEM industry which I will be able to bring back into the classroom and hopefully help inspire the younger generation to pursue careers in this area.

I applied to the STInt Programme because...

There are many reasons for applying to this Internship. The first reason is I have always had a great interest in stem industries, this first started when I took part in the BT Young Scientist competition in 2017. This experience allowed me to witness the many avenues which a STEM degree can allow you to pursue. I decided to become a Science Teacher because I have an interest in Science and helping others but also it can allow me to support and educate students on the pathways after school such as stem pathways as it is such a diverse and broad sector it can cater for many skill types and personalities.

Another key reason for choosing to apply for this internship is I want to experience what it is like to work in a STEM company, experience working on group projects and the ways in which the industry is ran.

Overall I feel I will get to meet many new and interesting people who I will learn valuable lessons and key skills from which I can use both while working as an intern but also while teaching.
