On Thursday 4 April the STEM Teacher Internship Programme (STInt) launched with its annual Meet & Greet event at Dublin City University, St. Patrick’s campus. This event provided an opportunity for 75 STInt interns to meet with over 40 host representatives for the first time.

The winners are an all-girls team from Seán Smyth’s sixth class in Scoil Treasa, Firhouse. The STEM Teacher Internship (STInt) Programme celebrated the completion of their seventh successful programme at a graduation event in Dublin City University on Friday evening, 30th September. STInt provides student and early-career primary and post-primary STEM teachers with 12-week paid summer internships in STEM roles in industry. This year, 62 teachers were placed in 31 organisations across Ireland enabling them to gain first-hand experience of careers in industry and the application of STEM in a wide range of workplaces.

Dublin City University kicked off the 2022 STEM Teacher Internship (STInt) programme in DCU St. Patrick’s Campus on Wednesday, 30th March. The ‘Meet & Greet’ event was attended by this year’s incoming STInt interns and industry partners as well as programme supporters. The 2022 programme is the biggest to date with 61 interns completing 12-week paid internships in STEM roles in 30 leading organisations. This novel programme aims to enable pre-service teachers from the third year of the BSC in Science Education to better inform their students – and in particular, their female students – about careers in STEM by giving the teachers the chance to work in industry for 3 months full-time.
