Niamh Minton

Tell us about yourself

My name is Niamh Minton. I am a DCU BSc Science Education graduate. I am currently teaching in a co-educational post primary school in North County Dublin, teaching Mathematics and Science. By taking part in the STInt programme, I hope to bring real-world experience and opportunities to my students and inspire them to choose STEM fields of study.

I am applying for the STInt programme as I am extremely interested in AI in the classroom. As soon as I saw the the position at ADAPT, I knew I had to apply. I am a member of my schools Digital Strategy team and recently attended an ‘AI in the classroom’ CPD jousting on ChatGPT, it’s uses and limitations.

ADAPT is the Science Foundation Ireland Research Centre for AI-Driven Digital Content Technology. ADAPT combines the expertise of more than 400 researchers and professional staff across eight Irish universities with that of its industry partners to produce ground-breaking digital content innovations. ADAPT’s focus is on “human-centric AI”, meaning that it is creating artificial intelligence systems that learn from and collaborate with humans in a deep and meaningful way.
