My name is Natalia Hanczka. I live in Athlone and I am currently completing my Professional Masters in Education at Maynooth University. My specialism subjects are Biology and Chemistry. I am looking forward to learn about the world of work in my subject area and apply the knowledge and skills learned to a classroom setting.
I feel very comfortable in my role as a teacher and greatly enjoy spending time with students and passing on valuable knowledge and skills to my students. However, I would like to step out of my comfort zone and learn a different set of skills as well as apply my knowledge of Science Education to the world of work outside of teaching. Often students ask “why are we even learning this” or say “sure we will never use this information”. When this occurs I would like to inform my students about my experience in the science industry outside of teaching and emphasise the many ways science is important in our everyday lives and the many job opportunities it offers. I am also looking forward to meeting new people and learning from them and their experiences.
