Tell us about yourself

Hello, I’m Naoise! I’m from Malahide Co. Dublin. I have just finished my final year in DCU completing my Bachelor of Education. My specialism was in Science Education. I am hoping to continue my journey and career in education, and to continue to explore STEM education in particular.

Why did you apply for the STInt Programme?

I have had a lifelong interest in STEM, nurtured throughout my own education by several inspirational teachers who were passionate about the field. By taking part in this internship programme, and by being exposed to the application of STEM in a commercial environment, I would hope to gain more knowledge of the area while acquiring new skills. In turn, I would take what I’ve learned to help improve STEM teaching and learning experiences in schools and hopefully inspire my own pupils as a result. I also believe that by taking my experiences and the skills learned within the field of education, that I would be able to share insights and add great value to the company I work with.

Where are you doing your ‘STInt’ in industry?

I’m thrilled to have accepted a role at PwC  for Summer 2021. PwC is a leading professional services firm based in Dublin city centre. My internship will most likely be undertaken remotely but I hope it may move to a hybrid style of working later in the summer – I would absolutely love to go on site and see exactly what it is like.

I have been assigned a ‘buddy’ who has been fantastic at answering any questions. She will be a great support throughout my time with the company. I am very much looking forward to discovering what exactly the internship will involve. I am eager to begin an exciting summer and to experience and learn all that I can.
