Tell us about yourself

Hi, I’m Lauren! I’m from Dublin but have been living in Rathangan, Co. Kildare now for nearly fifteen years. I am currently in my fourth year of my BSC Science with Education at Maynooth University. My specialism subjects are biology and mathematics.

Why did you apply for the STInt Programme?

I applied for this programme as it seemed perfect for me. I have always wanted to be a teacher but have always been interested in what happens in the industry. This programme gives me an opportunity to explore STEM in industry while still working towards being a teacher. I also think it is such an important movement to have teachers that can truly help their students imagine a future in STEM. One of the many questions asked by students is why do they need to learn math and science. Now we can give them clear answers as to why these subjects are so important with our own real life experiences.

Where are you doing your ‘STInt’ in industry?

I’m thrilled to have accepted a role at Vodafone  for summer 2021. Vodafone are a technology communications company. My internship will most likely be done remotely but may move to a hybrid style of working later in the summer – I’d love to go on site and see what it’s like.

I am going to working in security vulnerability management and cyber security reporting. I am excited to get to work and learn as much as I can from such a well renowned company.
