Laura Matthews
Hi I’m Laura! I recently completed my Professional Masters in Education at Dublin City University. Currently, I am a Biology and Science teacher. I completed my Bachelors and First Masters degrees in Trinity College Dublin, specialising in Zoology and Informal Science Education respectively.
I thought it would be a worthwhile and interesting way to develop both practical skills and knowledge away from my own area of expertise. Both of these I will be able to use in the classroom and in life.
I worked with the project consent team on small projects, mostly involved with collating information about An Bord Pleanala timeframes for approving developments. This involved researching files in An Bord Pleanala’s offices, and collating the data into spreadsheets and reports. I learned a lot about the energy sector and have a better understanding of the challenges and benefits of renewable energy. I’ll be able to use this information in the classroom when teaching about energy, electricity and sustainability.
SSE is proud to make a difference. We are one of the largest and most diverse energy companies in Ireland involved in the production, storage, distribution and supply of gas and the generation, transmission, distribution and supply of electricity and other energy services to many customers across the island of Ireland. SSE has regularly been voted No.1 for customer satisfaction in multiple independent surveys and is one of Ireland’s largest generators of electricity and Ireland’s largest generator of renewable energy. SSE Renewables owns and operates 28 wind farms across the island of Ireland and has a large onshore and offshore development portfolio.
