Tell us about yourself
Hi I’m Sarah and I am a 3rd Year student studying my Bachelor of Science with concurrent Bachelor of Education at the University College Cork. I am a Quercus Scholar specialising in Science and Biology teaching.
I applied to the STInt Programme because...

It provides a fantastic opportunity to gain insight and experiences into the pharmaceutical business within a world-class immuno-oncology treatment manufacturing facility whilst further enhancing my skills as a teacher so that I can inspire and encourage future generations of STEM professionals.

Tell us about your STInt in Industry

In my role I worked alongside industry experts to design and implement training documents for new equipment to be used on the production floor. This included updating procedures to make them more user friendly and working with multiple stakeholders.

MSD Ireland is one of the country’s leading healthcare companies, having first established here over 50 years ago. In order to understand MSD Ireland, it’s important to get a sense of the Irish pharmaceutical industry and the pivotal role it plays in Ireland’s economy as a whole.

We currently employ approximately 2,700 employees, across six sites in Ballydine, Co Tipperary, Brinny, Co Cork, Carlow, Dunboyne and Dublin and, in addition, operate substantial Human Health and Animal Health businesses.

Significantly our Irish sites manufacture approximately half of MSD’s top twenty products, saving and enhancing lives in over sixty countries around the world.
