My name is Matthew Byrnes and I am currently student enrolled in the Bachelor of Science with Concurrent Teacher Education programme at the University of Limerick. My subject specialisms are Biology and Chemistry. From the STInt program I hope to gain new skills which will give me a fresh perspective on my practice.

I would like to do the STEM internship because it will provide me with hands-on experience in a real-world industry setting, which will help me improve the application of scientific concepts in a classroom. I also believe that this placement will provide me with insights into the latest technological advancements, allowing me to keep up with the latest trends in the fields and better cater my lessons to make it more relevant to my future students. Finally, I would like to participate in this placement because it will allow me to learn new skills and obtain a different perspective on my teaching practice.
