Hi, I’m Gemma! I am in my final year of my Bachelor of Science in Science Education degree at Dublin City University. My specialisms are Chemistry, Mathematics and Science. I completed the STEM internship in 2022 and am excited to continue to further my understanding of how STEM can be integrated into my career in teaching.

I think that the future of STEM relies on the next generation of students and I as a teacher have the responsibility to prepare my students for this. In order for me to do this I need to not only have the pedagogical skills and be scientifically literate but I also need to learn the skills that are required for a job associated with STEM industries. I took part in the STEM internship in 2022 and the experience increased my confidence as a working professional and benefited how I teach and deliver lessons.

I want to further my professional development and continue to integrate the skills I learn this year into my future lessons. This will hopefully inspire my students to also aspire to try new things and see STEM as a career choice.
