Tell us about yourself

I’m Conor and I am in my final year of a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics, Computer Science and Education at University College Dublin. I’m always looking for ways to innovate teaching and learning in the classroom, and I think that the STInt programme would be a fantastic opportunity to learn how to teach students the skills they will need in their future careers.

I applied to the STInt Programme because...

As a student teacher of Mathematics and Computer Science, I have gained practical experience in teaching those subjects at a post-primary level. However, I have little experience working in these fields. I believe having the experience of working in industry would be an invaluable asset in the classroom, and I think it would be a fantastic opportunity to learn how to bridge the disconnect between classroom theory and how it is applied in industry. I think this programme is a great way to help inform my teaching, and to have an idea of the skills that students will need if they pursue careers in mathematics or computer science.
