Hi there, I’m Claire Neacy! I’m from Blackrock in County Louth. I am currently in third year at Dublin City University. My specialism subjects are Mathematics and Chemistry. I’m now going into my fourth year of Science Education and hope to be a secondary school science and mathematics teacher in the future.
I applied because I want to be challenged and step out of my comfort zone. Through this internship programme I hope to gain an insight on what happens in the STEM industry. I would like to be able to have the first-hand experience in these companies so that I can inspire my future students to pursue a career in the STEM field. I am also hoping to gain confidence through working in unfamiliar territory and taking on responsibility in a new environment. Through the work that I will be doing, I would like to build on my practical abilities within science and math and be able to apply it to future projects. I believe that the relationships and contacts I could establish in this programme would be invaluable to my future teaching career.
I’m thrilled to have accepted a role at Avanade Ireland for summer 2021. Avanade are an IT consultancy company based in Dublin. My internship will most likely be done remotely but may move to a hybrid style of working later in the summer – I’d love to go on site and see what it’s like.
I’ve spoken to some helpful and welcoming team members already and I’ve been given an overview of some of the work I can expect to be doing too. I am excited to get an insight to all of the areas and departments within the Avanade organization.
