About VLE Therapeutics

APC has created a new company, VLE Therapeutics, to support the manufacture of vaccines and advanced therapeutics for clinical and commercial supply. A Stage 1 investment is targeted to deliver an operational GMP manufacturing capability by the end of 2021. The leadership and operations team is currently being expanded in line parallel with the facility design and build. A Stage 2 will deliver a new bespoke 80,000 ft2 manufacturing facility by the end of 2023. The facility will provide a world-class platform for the GMP manufacture of a wide range of vaccines and advanced therapeutics.

Job Description

Support activities related to our Learning, Development, and Improvement as well as our Quality and Regulatory Affairs teams. The intern will be working on training documentation, assisting Technical Trainer with all necessary tasks, e-learnings, working on improvement projects. Company laptop for duration of placement will be provided, opportunities to participate in a variety of training including White Belt certification, Townhall social event, intern network, etc.

Job Description

The Innovation and Learning Team Intern works within the Innovation and Learning Team to support all training and CI activities across the College Park site. Their key responsibilities will include

• Maintaining GMP Training Records, maintenance of the learning management system as well as support for regulatory and internal audits.

• The candidate will also support and be involved in continuous improvement projects and activities across the site as we develop our performance excellence programme

Company Introduction

The Kerry manufacturing plant is based in Killorglin, Co Kerry on the banks of the river Laune. Killorglin is on the famous Ring of Kerry and the beauty of this area attracts visitors from all over the world and  is also an amazing place to live.

The plant was established (originally as Fujisawa) in 1990. This manufacturing site formulates an immunosuppressant. This is one of Astellas Pharma Inc’s most important and innovative drugs, using the latest encapsulation, ampoule filling and packaging technology which is used to prevent the rejection of transplanted organs. Worldwide distribution is from Killorglin. In addition, the first bio product for the Kerry plant, will be finished, packaged, and distributed worldwide from the Kerry plant.

The Kerry plant is recognised as an industry leader for energy management and energy efficient design. Job Description

Analysis and compilation of results for packaging materials and finished products and other materials as required in accordance with the approved testing instructions and procedures. Main Tasks

TESTING

To perform as scheduled, all testing activities in accordance with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP). To ensure that all testing is carried out correctly and efficiently in accordance with written procedures:

 Other materials as scheduled

DOCUMENTATION

 Accurately and efficiently records all data in LIMS or as applicable.

 Records instrument usage as required in LIMS/ appropriate logbook.

 Filing of documentation in an organised chronological/ batch sequence where required.

RETAIN STORE

 Collects retain samples for raw materials and finished product.

 Prepares and stores the correct quantities of filled capsules/ ampoules/ vials, raw materials/ active ingredient, primary and secondary packaging materials.

 Control the retain storage in accordance with the relevant procedure(s).

SAFETY & ENVIRONMENT

To comply with safety and environmental procedures/ waste disposal in the laboratory i.e. the wearing of safety glasses, lab coats, correct disposal of waste etc.

OTHER TASKS

 Consults schedules to ensure that all packaging materials and finished products and other materials are tested (as applicable) and the data recorded/ peer reviewed within the agreed deadline.

 Familiarisation with all of the laboratory instrumentation and ensure that it is calibrated before use.

Job Description

This job will expose the intern to all facets of working in a scientific research centre. The job will require rotations in the laboratory to learn techniques such as cell culture, microscopy, and biomaterial characterisation. The intern will also shadow our industry team to learn about the pathway from research to commercialisation. The intern will be part of the Education and Public Engagement team and be involved in projects such as our Marine Medtech exhibit at Galway Atlantaquaria, co-creating murals with artists, and developing lesson plans based on the centre’s research activities. During the internship, he/she will receive science communication/media training and be invited to the centre’s annual summit to hear world-renowned speakers present their research.
