Tell us about yourself

My name is Rachael, and I am from Westmeath. I am currently in my third year of Chemistry and Biology teaching in the University of Limerick. I would like to use my STEM knowledge and apply it to a practical setting other than teaching to achieve a new skill set. I want to gain hands-on experiences and develop new knowledge from industry which would allow me to support and guide future learners in the direction of STEM careers.

I applied to the STInt Programme because...

I’m applying to the STEM teacher internship program because I believe it would be a fantastic chance to enhance my STEM knowledge and abilities through a unique exposure to real-world science in industry. To advance my teaching profession and ensure I am as qualified as possible for my students, I would love the opportunity to work in an industry setting where I get to see real careers in STEM and gain experience within this exciting industry.

I believe that I can bring this knowledge into the classroom to give future learners hands-on and practical knowledge of STEM careers and bring industry connections to the school to enhance the whole school community and their involvement with STEM.
