Hi there! I’m Orlaith from Castlebar, County Mayo. I have recently completed my Bachelor of Science in Science Education in Dublin City University. My specialist subjects are Mathematics and Physics.
I applied to the STInt Programme because...

Last year I completed a STInt with EirGrid and I decided to apply to the programme again this year to gain more experience in a different STEM sector. I have been placed with Bank of Ireland and am learning lots about IT in the banking sector.

The team I mainly worked with was a part of GTCS (Group Technology and Customer Solutions). My team specifically dealt with decommissioning apps that are no longer used so as to save money. I learned many tricks and techniques on how to use Excel more efficiently and am now much better at manipulating data in spreadsheets. The placement showed me how important good communication skills are and I learned many things about having to be clear and explicit when working with others which I will bring back to the classroom.
