Tell us about yourself
Hello, my name is Marie and I am from County Galway. I recently completed my Bachelors of Mathematics and Education in NUI Galway. My subjects are Mathematics and Applied Mathematics.
I applied to the STInt Programme because...

I think the programme is an incredible idea and that all teachers should get to experience the subjects they teach from an industry perspective. I also think this would be an amazing chance to continue my professional development.

My STInt placement was within the Education and Public Engagement team in CÚRAM, the SFI Center for Research in Medical Devices. My role was incredibly diverse as I had the opportunity to work in lots of different places. I was in the office, taught undergrad students in the board room, did surveys from the Aquarium, assisted the making of medical documentaries on a farm and on the sea in Connemara, assisted at a two night weekend Science Summit in Meath, collected an international student who was interning from Shannon, went into two schools to teach karate, attended the Galway Film Festival, and set up for a scientific poster presentation. And that is only my adventures from a location perspective. I have learned and experienced so many things. I am very grateful to CÚRAM and the STInt team. I believe every pre-service teacher should have an experience like mine.
