Joshua McLoughlin
Hi, I’m Joshua! I am a 4th Year BSc/MSc of Chemistry, Mathematics, and Education at University College Dublin. I have always loved learning, and any chance to do so- inside, or outside- of my current field of expertise is something that I greatly relish.
The STInt programme is designed not only to allow myself to learn some new skills over the summer, but also so that I can accurately describe STEM industry to my future students, and I see that as an absolutely wonderful opportunity.
I had gone to the presentation regarding this internship in UCD, but I was a little bit on the fence with it. At that point, it was very early in the year and Summer felt very far away. I had no idea if I was going to go travelling abroad, or find a local job back home for the summer.
I recently realised, that with most of my academic modules completed, I had developed a renewed urge for learning something completely new that I had not felt since I had started college. With that being said, as well as it benefiting my teaching in the future by better understanding how the STEM industry works, I want to do something more interesting this summer.
