Aisling McDermott
Hi, I’m Aisling and I’m from Tullamore in County Offaly. I am currently going into the final year of my Bachelor of Education degree at Dublin City University. My specialism is Mathematics. I wanted to broaden my understanding of what STEM is and I understand the benefits of having this knowledge. I hope to bring what I learn from this programme into the primary classroom and I feel I will be able to do just that. I have had an interest in this field for quite some time, so I jumped at the opportunity to get this real life experience.
Applying for this STEM internship programme allows the possibility to develop and enhance skills that I am interested in, and did not get to experience in the field of Primary Teaching Education. This STEM internship allows me to gain opportunities to have real-life experiences while developing valuable skills related to this career path. After getting the opportunity to partake in this internship last year with Accenture, I am eager to find out more about this career path, while also developing a passion of work for myself. I am extremely driven and motivated, and I feel this would be the next step in another life changing experience that would provide me with practical skills for the future.
