Ross Burke
Hi, my name is Ross and I’m from County Mayo. I recently completed my Bachelors in Materials & Engineering Technology (Education) at the University of Limerick. My subject specialisms are Engineering and Design and Communication Graphics.
I wanted to gain some hands on experience in the STEM industry. This programme provides an excellent opportunity to gain new skills and also to find out what it is like to work in a fast paced STEM industry.
The team I was part of in ESB was the Innovation Opportunity Pipeline team in the Strategy, Innovation & Transformation business unit. Myself as well as one of my fellow STInt intern were tasked with reviewing and redesigning the current TY Programmes in ESB. Working on this project enabled us to learn so much about ESB. During my placement I was also lucky enough to be invited out to the ESB Networks training centre in Portlaoise to get a tour of the site, and I was also invited to test out the new ESB Ebikes in Dun Laoghaire. It was a great blend between working on an important project, and getting to experience the type of work that is done in ESB.
