To anyone considering the STEM internship, I highly recommend it. You will learn so much over the 12 weeks. My communication and IT skills, along with my self confidence, improved immensely during my short time with Ericsson. You will also get the opportunity to experience what it’s really like to work in industry. I think this is a great attribute as a STEM teacher because I can now give my students first-hand knowledge about STEM careers.
At Ericsson our STEM interns worked on two main assignments: INFUSE and SW Engineering program. The INFUSE assignment was to redesign our HTML/CSS and Python courses to be delivered online, for schools. In doing so they learned the role of a SW Developer and how to code using HTML/CSS. The second project wasto create a new SW application to be used for the on-boarding of Transition Year Students in 2021.
