Evelyn Kane
Hi, I’m Evelyn! I recently completed my Masters of Science in Mathematics and Science Education at University College Dublin and my subject specialisms are Biology and Mathematics.
I am passionate about becoming an excellent secondary school teacher. During placement this year my students have asked me questions about what it’s like to study Mathematics or Science in college and I can supply them with well-informed answers as I have experienced this myself. However when they ask what kind of jobs they can get or what their lives would look like if they follow this field of study to industry I can only answer generally. I am excited for this industry placement so that I can answer my student’s questions thoroughly and accurately.
During my time interning with PWC, I was in the Consulting Department on the RPA team. I went into the placement with no knowledge of what robotics process automation was but working with co workers and other interns I learned so much. Going into something so foreign from my skillset it really pushed me out of my comfort zone to do my own research and put my ideas out there. My research and critical analysis skills hugely improved from writing up reports and analysing market trends. I will definitely take these back to the classroom with me. As a science and maths teacher they will be very relevant to students doing CBAs.
